I was recently in Queensland visiting my parents when I had the opportunity to try lighting photography. I knew nothing about it so I did a quick search on the Internet for some tips (see this Lighting Photography site for some tips). Rather than set the camera to Bulb, I decided to experiment with various shutter speed settings (between 15 - 30 seconds). I was located at the top of an apartment building so I setup on the balcony. I included some of the lights from the caravan park below as a reference point. I approximated the time between lighting strikes and pressed the shutter when required.
I wished I had more opportunities but the storm didn’t last for long. This was my favourite photo from the sequence of photos I took.
