Enjoying The Early Spring Record Breaking Florida Hot Weather

The weekend was just like how I like it, hot! It was a great weekend weather-wise, at least for me, with temperatures breaking 90F. Several daily high temperatures were broken in Miami and Ft Lauderdale two days in a row. Many locations in South Florida reached the lower 90’s including my house where 91F was recorded on Saturday. At this hot weather had me wanting to get outside and enjoy the heat and clear weather. So that exactly what I did all day Saturday.

J.J. and I headed out for about 5-6 hours into the Glades and Lake region to look for all types of wildlife. We searched for gators, which were hiding from the heat of the day, messed around with some seagulls, and toured some drought stricken parts of eastern Lake Okeechobee. We put in about 5 miles of walking and another 50 miles of driving, and had a blast just being out under the warm March sun in South Florida.

Another Video To view Of The Weekend Lazy Trails

I have put together a 4 minute video just showing some of the small highlights of the weekend. Unfortunately while we were enjoying our nice weather under the ridge, the folks in the Southeast, including Georgia and South Carolina were trying to stay safe from tornadoes and cleaning up after all the severe weather. A significant severe weather outbreak, including tornadoes ravaged many Southeastern towns on Saturday. It was a much large event than first expected in the forecast.
