Storm News & Commentary
My Top 3

Has anyone been wondering why all the anime entries this week? Well, I’m going to tell you. I’ve been leading up the annual Kawaii Kon anime convention that’s being held this weekend at the Hawaii Convention Center. It starts on Friday and runs through Sunday.

It’s not cheap to attend, but I know a place where you can park for free There is a slew of guests that will be at the kon (short for convention), including a rock group from Japan. You can read about the guest here.

Besides the guests, there is a vendors room where you can shop for anime/manga/video games and other cool things like DVDs, books, figurines, shirts, toys, etc. There are gamer rooms where you can challenge others in tournaments, movie rooms to watch anime series and movies, as well as guest speaker rooms to listen to presentations.

But one of the main attractions of any anime convention is the cosplayers. Cosplay is derived from the two words Costume Play. Cosplaying is where fans dress up in costume of their favorite character. It may be from an anime movie, manga or graphic novel, or a popular video game. I’ve taken my daughter to quite a few anime conventions including a couple on the mainland and I’ve collected some pictures of cosplayers. Allow me to share them with you:

Princess Knight

Chii (from Chobits)

What’s a convention without some Storm Troopers there?

Storm Troopers meet Kamen Rider

Kamen Rider show Storm Troopers how it’s done

Storm Troopers take Kamen Rider’s girlfriend

Storm Troopers off the clock moonlight as The Village People

I’ll have more cosplay pictures for you tomorrow. No more Storm Troopers! After all, this is an anime convention.
