President Bush makes his first commencement speech (as president) for a high school graduation.  The lucky group of seniors were from the Greensburg (KS) High School.  They are the “Home of the Rangers”.  They brought in the Texas Ranger to send them off.

The visit also marked the one year anniversary since the massive tornado ripped the city to shreds.  Before you go to asking me if he granted the same courtesy to the students down in New Orleans, I’m going to say that he didn’t (see paragraph one, sentence one).

There were 18 students graduating.  That’s about the same number at a KCMO high school.  Well, plus or minus a few.  The whole town packed in to watch the ceremony and witnessed something that will remain dear to their hearts as they watched the president hand each graduate their diploma.

The town of Greensburg is making great strides as it rebuilds this small community.  I think that it was great that Mr. Bush took time out of his schedule to do something for real Americans.  This goes a long way towards helping keep normal people encouraged towards rebuilding their portion of the American dream.

It’s just a shame that most good will from presidents always occur when they’re lame duck.
